Let’s Talk About Ear Protection

Over the years, I’ve been using rubber ear plugs that I insert into my ear canal. I was using such ear protection as a service member, as well, going back to 1986.

Sometimes, rubber ear protection isn’t enough, especially if you’re shooting rifles/pistols indoors. The past 6 or so years, I’ve been doubling up with ear protection. While using the internal ear plugs, I’ve also been using electronic ear cups. Both work well, but they’re two products I’ve to continue to monitor (the lanyard for the ear plugs keep coming loose; the electronic cups sometimes needs a battery change).

As I’m a veteran, I’m always worried about my hearing – I already have mild tinnitus, and it’s only going to worsen as I age.

So, yesterday, I bought: Axil XCOR Pro Sig Sauer In Ear Blutetooth Hearing Protection, Black – XCOR-ESIG

I’m excited about these. They’re both of what I’ve been using – internal ear protection and electronic ear protection.

These were on sale at PSA and they are normally priced at $299. These were $79.99. With shipping and tax, they were just under $100. The extra for shipping and tax is a necessary evil, especially when considering the discount for these, so I’m not complaining.

They should arrive sometime next week.

Note: These are not firearms, but I just received an email notification from UPS that I’ve to pick them up at a UPS hub/store instead of UPS shipping straight to my door. WTF. These are not firearms.

I wish online stores gave customers the choice of shipping companies to use – I’d straight-up always use FedEx because FedEx isn’t quite as woke as UPS is.

I’ll report back on my experiences with the ear bud protection.
